My daughter’s birthday was five days ago. Being the big spender that I am, I bought her a “happy birthday” balloon from the Dollar Tree which was slightly under-inflated to begin with. Today, I noticed it was hovering a couple of feet off the floor.
I wondered what would happen if I cut the string. After I cut it, the balloon shot back up to the ceiling. This flimsy, little ribbon that weighed nearly nothing was still enough weight to hold down a helium balloon.
We all have weights in our lives that are holding us down. Even though they may seem miniscule, they could be having a huge effect on us.
Hebrews 12:1 admonishes us to “… lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.”
What weight is holding you down today? Give it to God so you can rise.
